Add-on Wireless Receiver (OpenTherm) - for Combi boilers

this this the second Tado kit Ive had the first was for my back boiler years ago now I have just had a new Combi boiler replacement which came with its own wireless thermostat this had limited settings and wasn't very responsive so when tado came on offer I jumped at the chance its so easy to replace your other kit with Tado it took me less than fifteen minutes to replace the whole system following the app installation guide, it guides you from start to finish, everything linked first time to my wi fi , the app itself has allowed me to set a load of zones per day and has reduced my gas bill by half by tweaking the daily settings, the best thing is the home/away feature which turns your heating off if you travel a certain distance from your home then switches it back on as you return the thermostat is a treat to operate just one button to push for settings etc and very responsive to a slight change in temperature we did have one small problem at the start the open window setting kept turning the heating off for fifteen minutes until we realised the door next to the thermostat was causing a draft when you opened it as it was in close proximity but Tade soon learnt that it wasn't an open window and no longer operates now when the door is opened would I recommend this kit absolutely if you want a system that can be set to any amount of settings also the app allows you to set the temperature in degrees not just half degree percent increments

It's a great package (hardware and software) with only minor drawbacks. I am impressed with how well it all works once it's connected (installed). It's important to have the radiator valves too as otherwise it's difficult to control temperature of each room, especially if we require very different heating of each room.
Once we have those valves, we can schedule heating, and also manually override it temporally until the schedule kicks in.

The drawback is the Away mode implementation. It's great, but only affects the whole system - it's not possible to set Away mode for just one room, which is a big issue for me. I don't get why they do not have that.

Also, my radiator valve reported weak batteries and ask for them to be replaced only after a week of use (I bought directly from Tado). The batteries are at 1.55V, so almost full, and are GP branded and came with the valves. Something does not add up here.

Another drawback, it's not possible to turn on/off away mode with the premium subscription. Really? It makes this subscription almost pointless.
