Is tado° compatible with my heating system?

You can find out whether the tado° Smart Radiator Thermostat X is compatible with your radiators in just a few seconds using our compatibility checker. In general, tado° is compatible with almost all manufacturers. Each pack contains six adapters for a variety of valve types.

Can I install tado° on my own?

You can install tado° devices yourself in just a few minutes, even if you're offline. The app has step-by-step instructions, customised to your radiator model. No risk of water leaks.

I'm buying tado° for the first time. Do I need a Bridge X?

You don’t need a Bridge X if you already have another Thread Border Router in your home, and you can order any tado° X product without the Bridge X included. Please note that the Internet Bridge from the V3+ series is not compatible with tado° X.
Here you can find a list of Thread Border routers that can be used in place of the tado° Bridge X.

I already have tado° V3+ with an Internet Bridge. Is this compatible with tado° X?

If you already have tado° V3+ devices in your home, simply expand them with the V3+ Add-ons. The Bridge X and all other tado° X products are not compatible with tado° V3+.

Can I install tado° in my bathroom?

Yes, tado° X is suitable for installation in wet areas.

Can I return tado°?

Yes, you have a 14-day right of return following your purchase. In addition, we offer our Money-Back Guarantee, which allows you to return tado° X within the first year if you’re unhappy with the results.

Will I have to replace the batteries?

No, the Smart Radiator Thermostat X is equipped with a rechargeable battery pack. Simply remove and charge it with any USB-C cable. This takes approximately 2 hours and only needs to be done about once a year.

What happens if I’m offline?

You can still install tado° if you’re offline. What’s more, Smart Schedules will continue to run even when you’re not connected to the internet because they are saved locally on the device.

What's Matter?

Matter ensures a simplified connection between tado° and your smart home, regardless of which products or brands you’re using. Matter-enabled devices will work together reliably and securely now and in the future.

What's Thread?

Thread technology was developed to make networking smart home devices easier. Thread-enabled devices form their own, robust network to communicate with each other. The entire network only requires one Thread Border Router, regardless of the devices you have and their manufacturers.

Better balance through the house

Since fitting these, we’ve noticed quite some improvement in the balance of heat through the house; previously downstairs would heat up very quickly and leave upstairs cold, but with these controlling the temperatures and calling for the heating, this is greatly improved. It also means that we’re not heating rooms when we’re not using them, without the hassle of constantly manually adjusting TRVs.

This is great, what an amazing product

Very unhappy with the misleading sales and marketing videos meaning purchasing was misrepresented (Tado X was not obvious that it was not on discount, resulting in several hours on bot chat and email) and a complete waste of time then ordering Tado X as several options of current heating system could not be upgraded (popular Wave and Siemens non-smart thermostat) - very poor and a huge disappointment after enjoying a Tado v2 several years ago. Arguably, all this broke trading standards in UK. I doubt I’ll be trying a third time Tado - best update your advertising.

At last - it does the job

I've been a tado° user pretty much since they came on the market, and have put the old versions in several homes. I really like them, but had suffered from the poor coverage given by the single LAN bridge in a couple of installation. So, the introduction of multiple Wi-Fi bridges and the 'matter' connectivity is splendid. I've installed two systems this week and the performance of valve heads, bridges and controller is excellent; so easy to install. Also, the valve heads are now very quiet. Now, all we need is to be able to register more than one home per account. Good job, tado° even though they are reaping the early user curve!

Great upgrade

I have owned tado for many years. This is a very good upgrade. Connection seems more stable and the smart TRVs are almost silent now. Great product.

Finally, great smart home TRVs

I've been waiting for the tado° X line to launch in the UK since it was launched earlier this year in Europe. Matter/Thread enabled and (if you've the right boiler, which I don't, currently) able to control your boiler so that heat goes to the right place when it is needed.

Even without having a modern enough boiler, these things are great. Just to be able to set up some automations so that my home office isn't heated so much out-of-hours, or my bedroom gets heating only in the evening, is fantastic. Being able to get both temperature and humidity graphs over time in Home Assistant (I don't use the tado° app, it looks great, but not for me) is brilliant in helping understand how heat and humidity change over time within the house.

I'll be getting more of these TRVs and, when I get my boiler replaced, I'll be getting the wireless thermostat/boiler controller module, too.

If you're a home automation nerd, and also a bit of a data nerd, these are great. No cloud required (although some advanced options I don't need are provided by their cloud service), and privacy friendly.
