Is tado° compatible with my heating system?

You can find out whether the tado° Smart Radiator Thermostat X is compatible with your radiators in just a few seconds using our compatibility checker. In general, tado° is compatible with almost all manufacturers. Each pack contains six adapters for a variety of valve types.

Can I install tado° on my own?

You can install tado° devices yourself in just a few minutes, even if you're offline. The app has step-by-step instructions, customised to your radiator model. No risk of water leaks.

I'm buying tado° for the first time. Do I need a Bridge X?

You don’t need a Bridge X if you already have another Thread Border Router in your home, and you can order any tado° X product without the Bridge X included. Please note that the Internet Bridge from the V3+ series is not compatible with tado° X.
Here you can find a list of Thread Border routers that can be used in place of the tado° Bridge X.

I already have tado° V3+ with an Internet Bridge. Is this compatible with tado° X?

If you already have tado° V3+ devices in your home, simply expand them with the V3+ Add-ons. The Bridge X and all other tado° X products are not compatible with tado° V3+.

Can I install tado° in my bathroom?

Yes, tado° X is suitable for installation in wet areas.

Can I return tado°?

Yes, you have a 14-day right of return following your purchase. In addition, we offer our Money-Back Guarantee, which allows you to return tado° X within the first year if you’re unhappy with the results.

Will I have to replace the batteries?

No, the Smart Radiator Thermostat X is equipped with a rechargeable battery pack. Simply remove and charge it with any USB-C cable. This takes approximately 2 hours and only needs to be done about once a year.

What happens if I’m offline?

You can still install tado° if you’re offline. What’s more, Smart Schedules will continue to run even when you’re not connected to the internet because they are saved locally on the device.

Matter ensures a simplified connection between tado° and your smart home, regardless of which products or brands you’re using. Matter-enabled devices will work together reliably and securely now and in the future.

What's Thread?

Thread technology was developed to make networking smart home devices easier. Thread-enabled devices form their own, robust network to communicate with each other. The entire network only requires one Thread Border Router, regardless of the devices you have and their manufacturers.

Very impressed

I’ve now added 8 of these to my home and also the wireless thermostat and receiver. Fitting the thermostats is pretty straightforward, the batteries need to be charged for about an hour before use and they auto update their firmware. The main problem I had installing was the matter/thread networking. I couldn’t pair these with my Apple HomePod mini powered on (but works after pairing) and I had to buy 2 Bridge X devices to get the range needed across my home. The result was a lot of fiddling about to get them paired but they work seamlessly now set up and being able to see the temperature and humidity in every room control them all is such a change from manual TRVs and a wired Nest thermostat. Our boiler is running less but the house feels warmer. Being able to copy and paste schedules for days saves a huge amount of time, I wish you could do this across rooms as well as for each room individually and it would be great if there was a secondary home schedule you could enable for guest rooms that don’t normally get used rather than having to manually update the schedule every time a visitor arrives and leaves but these are minor points, overall the experience with Tado is great.

Initial Thoughts

So far experience with Tado x has been great. The house definitely feels warmer however I haven’t had the first bill yet to compare the savings or benefits. Only small critic is that the thermostat seems to be useless as it marks temperature but it does not control anything so it was a unnecessary item to spend on. Other than that system seems great

Very easy to fit and control

I've had Tado for over 10 years. Tado has saved me loads over that time.
These new Tado X Smart Thermostats are much quieter than the V3 ones they replaced.
A couple of rads caused a problem when calibrating the V3's. These new Tado X thermostats have no such issue.

Do make sure you screw them on tight. I had two come loose and needed recalibrating. Mea culpa.
